Let’s Talk: Pantone Color Trends in Fashion

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’m currently on maternity leave soaking up every precious moment with our baby boy, Hudson Christopher. He is a precious little boy who has brought me so much joy! Speaking of joy, I’ve seen this word everywhere when I was searching for fall/winter 2023 and spring 2024 design trends. It’s quite interesting how the world continues to embrace transformation and positivity following the onset of covid. Covid is certainly not gone forever, but our mindsets have shifted from scared and frozen to liberated and inventive.

As I’m sure you’ve heard, fashion trends quickly trickle into the interior design world. The colors showcased below are vibrant and progressive, yet rooted in positive feelings of the past. We see the old become the new in a modern way.

It’s all about unexpected color pairings. Striking bold colors coupled with timeless tones allow us to reimagine what color can do from an emotional standpoint. These pairings encourage us to explore, break free and stay true to oneself!

We’re seeing a similar story in London – the palette of colors reflect on memories from the past while pushing the boundaries of who we want to be. Both old and new colors come together, painting a picture of self expression in a bold new way.

Overall, you can see that Pantone is forecasting joy packed color palettes that inspire bold transformation.

When it comes to interior design, color experts are predicting that people will be much more adventurous with their color choices with bright pinks, playful aquas, and rich browns leading the charge. In fact, the design community is coining this term “dopamine decor”. There is a strong focus on the feelings interiors evoke. Neutrals will never leave us, but next year’s neutrals will be warmer and more interesting – think buttery and blush tones. I anticipate seeing a lot of warm walls like honey hues vs white paint.

I also want to mention that I am always inspired by color/design trends, but I never lead with them. Every client is unique. As a designer, I use trends to spark creativity and try out new ideas, but I always make sure to connect back to the client’s preferences. After all, their home should reflect them, not NY Fashion Week experts’ preferences!
